The 1979 Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Cuvée Vieilles Vignes is fully mature, offering up aromas of dried berries, smoked tea, licorice, rose petal and moist humus, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample palate built around melted tannins and tangy acids. This is an attractive if somewhat tertiary wine from Ponsot, though among lesser vintages in this period my nod would go to the 1982 over the 1979.
