The 2009 Sauvignon Quarz boasts impressive depth and richness. As good as this is, its hard to imagine drinking an entire bottle with a meal. There is no shortage of concentration in the varietal fruit, but everything is just too ponderous here to provide true pleasure. Ripe apricots and peaches flesh out on the finish. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2018. These new releases from Cantina di Terlano are impressive. As much as I admire the top wines, I simply adore the entry-level bottlings for their unbeatable combination of quality, value and regional/varietal typicity.
