From the heart of La Morra, the 2011 Barolo Giachini doesn't show the brightness or nervous energy that you get in cooler vintages. The wine delivers steady pulses of dark fruit, spice, leather and licorice. These tones create a united front and seamless fusion. In the mouth, it shows ample richness, roundness and good structure at the back. It should flesh out further in 3-5 years.

Dense and chewy, this reveals more licorice, spice and tar than fruit for now, though one senses the latent cherry, plum and floral flavors. Shows fine length, gaining suppleness with air.
