The 2007 Barolo Giachini is fabulous. Ripe, explosive aromatics make a positive first impression. The fireworks continue, with layers of exotic dark fruit, spices, menthol and new leather that continue to take shape in the glass. The finish is long, subtle and graced with endless inner perfume. This is one of the more well-ventilated sites Revello works with. The Revello brothers have done a fabulous job in capturing the essential beauty of this great La Morra vineyard. The Giachini is a beautiful and totally harmonious Barolo. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.
This is another strong set of new releases from the Revello brothers. The 2007s saw 4-5 days of maceration and fermentation and were aged in French oak, approximately 40-50% new for the single-vineyard wines and 15-20% for the straight Barolo. The Gattera was aged in a 15 hectoliter cask.
