The 2007 Cotes du Rhone-Villages Rasteau Cuvee Prestige offers the more scorched, chocolaty side of Grenache. Aromas of earth, chocolate, black cherry, and garrigue emerge from this dark ruby/purple-tinged effort. With abundant fruit, body, tannin, muscle, and structure, this chewy, big Rasteau does not possess the sensuality and seductiveness of the Cairanne, but it is a backstrapping, bold cuvee that will benefit from 1-2 years of cellaring. Enjoy it over the following decade.
Excellent wines consistently emerge from this estate in Cairanne. I did not see their entire portfolio, but these three 2007 Cotes du Rhone-Villages reveal considerable promise.
