The top cuvee here, the 2003 Pinot Noir Ashley’s Vineyard, boasts a dark plum/ruby/garnet hue along with a sweet, expressive nose of sassafras, figs, plums, and cherries. Forest floor, raspberry, and floral notes also make an appearance. Although it tastes like a Morey-St.-Denis on steroids, it is clearly not a Burgundy. It is a provocative, full-flavored, multi-layered California Pinot Noir that will offer loads of personality over the next 3-4 years.
