The 1998 Brunello di Montalcino is successful. A firm garnet in color, it shows the typical alcoholic warmth of Sant’Angelo on the nose along with plums, herbs, and light oak spice. Long and sustained on the palate, its substantial and slightly tannic flavors need some bottle time, but the fruit and flesh are there. Drink: 2006-2012.
