The 1999 Brunello di Montalcino, the first wine Carlo Ferrini was able to fully control from the start, is an important step in the evolution of the estate’s style, fresher in color than in the past, notably more fruity on the nose with fine focus and complexity, broad, tarry, and meaty on the palate, well concentrated but round and balanced as well. Drink: 2005-2018.
Pierluigi Talenti’s grandchildren are now effectively running - with the important assistance of consulting winemaker Carlo Ferrini - the estate he founded. The wines are beginning to change, but slowly, and no conscious break with the past is sought, properly so as the founder of the house was an historic figure in Montalcino in the key decades of the postwar expansion of the zone.
