Bois de Boursan's 1996 Chateauneuf du Pape exhibits a dark plum/cherry color, followed by spicy, peppery, sweet, jammy fruit flavors, a straightforward, medium-bodied style, good fruit, mid-weight, and technically flawless winemaking. Although one-dimensional, it offers juicy fruit, and will please both restaurants and consumers seeking an immediately drinkable Chateauneuf du Pape. I have been keeping my eye on this estate as the wines, while always very good, appear to be improving to the point that they merit attention from all serious Rhone wine enthusiasts.
