The 2005 Chateauneuf du Pape is well-made, showing plenty of spicy, peppery garrigue notes intermixed with some sweet cherry and currant, but the structured, tannic, rather firm and slightly astringent finish kept my score from going any higher. This is somewhat 1995 deja vu all over again, as a famous New York baseball player once said. Give it 2-3 years of bottle age and drink it over the following 12-14 years.
