The 2007 Barolo Gattera is nicely balanced although it is the most linear of the single-vineyard Baroli in this lineup. Crushed flowers, mint and ripe red fruit come together nicely on a mid-weight frame. The finish shows distinct elements of salinity that provide drive and focus. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2027.
This is another strong set of new releases from the Revello brothers. The 2007s saw 4-5 days of maceration and fermentation and were aged in French oak, approximately 40-50% new for the single-vineyard wines and 15-20% for the straight Barolo. The Gattera was aged in a 15 hectoliter cask.
