The 2014 Barolo Gattera is made in reduced quantities, with only 3,000 bottles produced in this difficult vintage. The wine shows some plump berry fruit on the one hand and pungent spice or furniture wax on the other. Those extremes do not line up with harmony. The wine finishes with a tart note of sourness. This wine ages in large Slavonian oak casks for two years.

Firmly built and tightly wound, this red features cherry, currant, hay, spice, tar and tobacco flavors fused to a dense matrix of tannins. Hangs in there on the chewy finish. Best from 2022 through 2040. 450 cases made, 150 cases imported.??–BS??Region: Italy / Piedmont / Barolo Select to Add
