Only one Chateauneuf du Pape was produced in 2008. The 2008 Chateauneuf du Pape is composed of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah and represents one of the better efforts of the vintage. Its deep ruby color is followed by sweet, upfront aromas of blackberries, black currants, licorice, underbrush and loamy soil. Unlike many of its predecessors, it does not require additional bottle age, so enjoy this deep, full-bodied red over the next 7-8 years.
This estate has been long run with great attention to detail and passion by the Armenier sisters, Sophie and Catherine. One of the oldest estates in Chateauneuf du Pape (records go back to the 14th century), the vineyards are biodynamically farmed at this small, 42-acre property. The Armenier sisters’ newest acquisition is the Domaine de la Lorentine in the up and coming appellation of Lirac. This wine gets better with each vintage as they get to know the vineyard.
