Proprietor Armenier's 1995 Chateauneuf du Pape exhibits a dark ruby/purple color, and pure, sweet aromas of cassis, black-cherries, and truffles. Aromatically, it reminds me of Chateau Fortia, which is interesting in view of the high percentage of Syrah in Fortia's blend (which is not the case with Marcoux). This rich wine offers a sweet attack, full body, excellent definition, good ripeness and extract, and a clean, round, opulently-textured finish. It should drink well for a decade. This wine was tasted between June 1 and June 16, 1996.
