The 2006 Cairanne Le Ventabren boasts more minerality, with elegant bing cherry notes as well as some ripe strawberry, pepper, garrigue, and spice. The wine is medium-bodied in a slightly fresher, more Burgundian style than the Les Antimagnes.
This is one of the up-and-coming estates to keep a lookout for, as the proprietor seems to be pushing the envelope in all the right directions. Philippe Cambie, the renowned consultant, is doing some special work with the estate’s old vine Grenache, Carignan, and Syrah.
