Rocca di Castagnoli, a slumbering giant, seems to have awakened, and there are important possibilities here with over three hundred and fifty acres of vineyards, a capable house oenologist, and one of the most important consulting winemakers in all of Italy. Only the 2000 Buriano, a Cabernet, seems to have suffered the heat of the vintage. The varietal notes are present and the nose is ripe, but the texture is hard and the tannins rather dry. Drink: 2006-2012.
