The 2001 Allende Blanco has fresh lemon, dried mango and a slight adhesive note on the nose, as if a little mature Barsac had been discretely blended. The palate is rounded and fresh on the entry with light honeyed fruit, although I feel it does not quite deliver the complexity and tension on the finish. Drink now-2015.
Commencing with the Allende Blanc, I was impressed by how well this ages. Predominantly Viura with a higher percentage of Malvasia in older vintages, it develops a fine waxy texture and almost dried Barsac-like personality.
