The 2000 Chianti Classico Riserva, spicy on the nose with notes of cedar and incense, ample and dense in flavor, finishes with good power but still has a few tannins to polish and soften and should be drunk between 2006 and 2012.
The Farkas family’s Villa Cafaggio estate was the first to put Panzano, previously considered nothing more than an unimportant hamlet, on the map. The subsequent arrival of Castello dei Rampolla, Fontodi, and many others have consolidated the reputation of this part of Chianti Classico, but the memory of the 1971 Chianti Classico Riserva of this house lingers in the mind of those who had the good fortune to taste it. The wines have further improved in recent years thanks to the efforts of Stefano Farkas and Stefano Chioccioli, and this is a strong lineup.
