The 2008 Chianti Classico Riserva is another pretty wine from Villa Cafaggio. Plums, smoke, incense, tar and earthiness are some of the notes that emerge from the glass. The 2008 shows some of the wilder notes of Sangiovese in a firm style that is typical of the vintage. Mint, licorice and tobacco linger on the delineated finish. The Riserva is 100% Sangiovese and spent 18 months in French oak barrels prior to being bottled. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2023.
