The 2001 Chianti Classico Riserva is obviously at an entirely different level (no Riserva or selection was made in 2002, one reason that the regular Chianti Classico bottling, which contained all the best wine produced, reached the level it did) than the regular bottling, ripe in its red berry fruit, round and savory in flavor, well structured but with a pleasurable softness on the flow and finish.
