Tasting through his five Pinot Noirs, my least favorite and the only one that left me wanting more was the 2008 Pinot Noir Pommard Clone. It is an elegant wine, displaying attractive berry fruit, forest floor, herbs, and spice, but it is monolithic and straightforward. His winery continues to turn out one of the best values in Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir. Given the recent death of Fess Parker, it was emotional to taste through his wines. A lovely Pinot Noir for drinking now. Could be a bit more intense, and finishes rather quickly, but in between is a nice, dry, silky wine, with soft, intricate cherry, cola, spice and sandalwood flavors. ——S.H.(10/1/2010)—— 87
