I have had the pleasure of drinking several bottles of Guillemot's 1947 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Aux Serpentières, and the wine is cruising along. This climat takes its name from the serpentine rivulets of water that emerge from small springs here, and it always performs well in warm, dry vintages such as 1947. Offering up aromas of ripe cherries, red fruit compote, mossy soil tones and warm spices, it's full-bodied, deep and textural, with melting tannins and a layered core of fruit, girdled by succulent acids.
