The 2017 Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er Cru Aux Serpentières is more reserved, unwinding to reveal a pretty bouquet of red cherries, plums and strawberries mingled with spices and peonies. Medium to full-bodied, deep and fleshy, it's nicely concentrated, its ample chassis of satiny tannin largely concealed, concluding with fine persistence. Don't let its structural elegance deceive you, however, as this will really come into its own at age 10 and beyond.
