Perfumed, with red berries, cherries and a hint of rose stem in the nose. Medium-bodied with lots of wood and richness. Chewy and slightly austere, but it should soften with age and come together. Try after 2026.

I encountered some crumbly or dried-out corks on my two samples of this wine. The Talenti 2018 Brunello di Montalcino (with the black label) is fine and elegant with perfumed notes of dried fruit, blue flower, earth and balsam herb. The balance of the wine is very nice, and you'll appreciate the delicate tannic structure and the lean to medium-bodied texture. Some 25,000 bottles were released. Fruit is selected from across eight hectares of vines on rocky, galestro soils.

This red delivers an intense beam of cherry and red berry fruit notes, shaded by tobacco, sanguine and leafy vegetal flavors. Has a bright structure, but finishes on the dry side, revealing a spicy aftertaste. The Talenti 2017 Brunello di Montalcino shows a lot of soft and ripe fruit with blackberry and cherry confit at the front. Spice, leather, crushed flower and potting soil follow in due course and so does the wine's impactful 15% alcohol. This wine is a bit thin and short on the mid-palate, but otherwise, this is a solid effort for this difficult vintage. Some 25,000 bottles were rolled out.
