Trabucchi’s 2005 Recioto della Valpolicella is a big, massive wine. A powerful Recioto, it flows from the glass with tons of super-ripe dark fruit, smoke, earthiness, tar and licorice in a full-throttle style. The tannins remain imposing and this masculine, brooding wine is best enjoyed with strong cheeses or chocolate rather than on its own. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2015.
