The Cafaggio 2020 Chianti Classico shows ripe cherry and blackberry with a soft, open-knit approach. The wine should drink nicely and informally over the next couple of years. The hot vintage produces a simple wine with ripe flavors that should taste nicely alongside a classic burger and fries.

Made with organic fruit from vineyards in Panzano in Chianti, the Cafaggio 2017 Chianti Classico shows taut fruit with wild cherry, cassis, blueberry and Japanese plum. This is a fresh and easygoing expression with the high acidity to pair with a cheese or butter-rich entrée. Dusty mineral notes appear on the close.

The 2016 Chianti Classico by Cafaggio is a tight and streamlined wine—and not a particularly generous one when it comes to its overall fruit profile. The wine is crisp and medium-weight with bright cherry, cranberry and cassis-like aromas. There is some spice woven in there, but it is subdued and downplayed. The main theme here is freshness and tangy acidity, perfect for pizza. Some 100,000 bottles were made.

This is a pure expression of Sangiovese that delivers a succulent and fruit-forward approach that prizes dark cherry, blackberry and red rose.
