A narrowly constructed, but attractive, classically Bordeaux effort, the 2002 offers up scents of spice box, dried herbs, sweet currants, and tobacco smoke. Medium-bodied and slightly austere, with sweet black currant and cherry fruit, excellent purity, and undeniable minerality, it will be at its finest between 2006-2014.

This is very earthy, with a decadent plum and meat character on the nose and palate. Full-bodied, with a ripe fruit character and a medium finish. Hollow midpalate. Burgundian. Best after 2007. 2,665 cases made. -JS
