The 1994 Borsao Tinto, an 80% Grenache/20% Tempranillo blend, has seen no aging in oak. It possesses an amazingly saturated dark ruby/purple color, an intense, sweet nose of pepper, black-cherries, and framboise, medium to full body, layers of concentrated fruit, low acidity, and a spicy, earthy, heady, glycerin-imbued finish. It appears to be Spain's answer to a good, fleshy, meaty Gigondas. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. This is an amazing value! This wine from the obscure viticultural region of Campo de Borja is, fortunately, not too limited in quantity. There are nearly 10,000 cases. It is a colossal value with a kinship to something made from the southern Rhone, but with a price from another era - the 1960s!Importer: Fine Estates From Spain, Jorge Ordonez, West Roxbury, MA; tel.
