The 1995 Borsao (80% Garnacha and 20% Tempranillo; 30,000 cases) emphasizes superb levels of ripe black-cherry and raspberry fruit, with a roasted, smoky, peppery character, velvety texture, low acid, and a plush, medium-bodied, soft, surprisingly long finish. This remarkable bargain is Spain's answer to a luscious, peppery, ripe, smoky, medium to full-bodied, supple Cotes du Rhone from France. This wine should drink well for 2-3 years.I asked the importer if there was one bottling or multiple bottlings based on demand, and I was told that only one bottling is done for his cuvee, thus the only bottle variation that might occur should be from bottles that have been mistreated in the distribution system. For the record, Jorge Ordonez ships everything to this country in temperature-controlled reefer containers.Importer: Fine Estates From Spain, 75 Fox Meadow Lane, Dedham, MA 02026; tel.
