Reports from Burgundy continue to circulate that this firm, with the help of its new partner, Antonin Rodet, has begun to make better and better wines. Based on my tastings of their 1989 red wines, 1990 barrel samples, as well as these 1989 whites, I would have to agree. I did not see their entire line of white wines, but I was impressed by the richness and individual character of the wines I saw. The 1989 Meursault-Clos de Mazeray exhibited an attractive, lush, pineapple fruitiness, creamy texture, and a smoky, toasty finish. Readers should note that all of the wines were from the Domaine Jacques Prieur; they are not the negociant bottlings. Importer: William Deutsch & Sons, Chappaqua, NY.
