The 2003 Amarone Classico Costasera presents a brooding nose along with notes of tobacco, earthiness, smoke and dark fruit that flow from the glass. It offers excellent length on the palate although the tannins could use a little more polish. This full-bodied rustic Amarone should drink well over the next few years. There's a slight raisiny tinge to the fruit, with cardamom, fresh oak and just a whiff of black truffle at the start. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a clean, mineral finish.
