The estate’s 2004 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Manapetra is a darker, layered offering. Ripe dark fruit, menthol, earthiness and minerals all come together in this rich, full-bodied wine. Dried cherry and berry, with hints of dried flowers, even lilac. Full-bodied, with focused and fresh fruit that turns to cedar, with hints of vanilla and plum. Fresh, fruity and chewy. Grows on the palate. Best after 2010. 1,000 cases made. -JS

Sweet berry and cherry aromas, with hints of sandalwood. Medium-bodied, with firm tannins and fresh acidity. Turns a little hard, even a little thin. But should soften with bottle age. Best after 2010. 500 cases made. -JS
