In certain vintages the Gonnet brothers produce two cuvees, their Cuvee Classique and a selection from the richest vats and/or the oldest vines; it is called Cuvee Etienne Gonnet. Interestingly, this selection was made in both 1992 and 1993. Most consumers are likely to encounter the regular cuvee. The 1992 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Etienne Gonnet displays an attractive olive, black-cherry, and herb-scented nose, excellent ripeness, full-bodied, soft tannin, and a heady finish. Drink it over the next decade. Various importers, including Europvin, USA, Watertwon, MA; Tel. (617) 924-7620
