The Gonnet brothers run this reliable estate that turns out textbook Chateauneuf du Papes. The 1995 Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee Etienne Gonnet reveals thrilling intensity. Aromatically, it offers up subdued aromas of black cherries, olives, pain grille, and licorice. Unevolved and full-bodied, with powerful, concentrated flavors, copious amounts of glycerin (note the thick legs that slowly ooze down the inside of the glass), outstanding concentration, and moderate tannin in the powerful finish, this wine requires several years of cellaring; drink it between 2000-2013.
