The 1998 Riesling Polish Hill is a medium to full-bodied, multi-dimensional, ripe, dry Riesling with exceptional precision, length, and complexity, a knock-out nose of petroleum, sweet sausage, citrus, and minerals. In the mouth, some of Riesling's tropical fruit characteristics are present, along with earthy, mineral notes. With tremendous purity, medium to full body, and a long, surprisingly intense finish, this powerful, dry Riesling (13.5% alcohol) is the finest Riesling I have ever tasted from Australia. This reasonably priced wine competes with the best wines from Alsace and Germany. It should last for 4-5 years, but I recommend enjoying it over the next 1-2 years.
