The difference in terroir between the Polish Hill with shale and slate soils and the soft rock soils at Watervale, shows through on the 2001 Polish Hill Riesling. With a lovely perfume developing on the nose redolent of jasmine, orange blossom preserve, kumquat, some apple tart notes and touch of tatami mat, the wine is still very tight and crisp in the mouth but approachably so.
