Like the 1994 Aglianico del Vulture, the 1991 Aglianico del Vulture Vigna Caselle Riserva is made from 100% Aglianico, but is aged longer before its release. It is an ambitious, backward, more intellectual style of wine that is full-bodied, but tightly-knit, with smoky, black-cherry fruit, and loads of truffle and earth-like aromas and flavors. I actually prefer its less-expensive sibling, but this should turn out to be an interesting wine given another 1-2 years of cellaring. It should last for 12 years.
