The 1999 St.-Joseph l'Olivaie (10,000 bottles) is produced from 60-year old Syrah vines. It is rich and complex, with good structure, definition, and a thick, rich mid-palate. The wine offers earthy black fruits mixed with creosote and plum notes. It has a layered texture, good acidity, and a pure, refreshing personality. This offering should drink well for 7-8 years. The stars in this portfolio are the red wine cuvees, which have improved dramatically over the last several years.
