The 2006 Barolo Gramolere is a classic feeling wine laced with dark plums, prunes, spices, leather and licorice. Like so many 2006 Baroli, the aromas tend towards the ethereal end of the spectrum. Crushed flowers, herbs and licorice linger on the finish. This is a very pretty Barolo from Manzone. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2026.
As is often the case, Manzone is one of the producers who chooses to bottle his Baroli on the late side. I tasted the 2007s from barrel and also had the opportunity to revisit the 2006s from bottle.
