This wine exhibits a dark ruby color, as well as an excellent bouquet of pain grille intermixed with jammy cherry fruit. There is good glycerin, medium body, an overall sense of elegance, fine equilibrium, and a tasty, richly fruity finish. Some tannin is present, but this is a stylish, finesse driven wine that should drink nicely for 10-12 years.

This has turned out to be a very fine effort from Chauvin despite the presence of high levels of tannin. The wine is dense and medium to full-bodied, with plenty of tell-tale black cherry fruit intermingled with moderate quantities of high quality toasty oak. While the wine is textured, ripe, and impeccably well-made, the tannin will require 4-5 years to melt away. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2010. Last tasted 11/97
