One of my favorite St.-Emilions for its superb savory, broad flavor profile, the deep ruby/purple-colored 2002 Chauvin exhibits notes of melted licorice, black currants, cherries, smoke, and earth. Long, persistent, and rich, this medium-bodied wine avoids the hard, dry tannin found in many 2002 St.-Emilions. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2016
