This excellent St.-Emilion estate continues to offer reliability and increasingly high quality. The 1997 Chauvin is a seductive, silky-textured effort with a dark ruby/purple color as well as abundant fat, juicy, jammy black cherry/currant fruit and toasty oak. A supple, low acid wine with good depth and no hard edges, it should be consumed over the next 7-8 years.

This wine is not very complex and elegant, but rather fat, lush, and obvious. It possesses an attractive deep ruby color, and a sweet, black cherry-scented nose intermixed with smoke, pain grille, and dried herbs. Medium-bodied, round, and open-knit, this precociously-styled wine should be drunk over the next 7-9 years.
