The deluxe cuvee of 2001 Chateauneuf du Pape Privilege exhibits a saturated ruby/purple color as well as a tight but promising nose of plums, cherries, kirsch liqueur, balsam wood, and garrigue. Dense, ripe, and medium to full-bodied, with moderately high tannin, it is a generous, although closed 2001. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2014.
