The 1988 Pavie-Macquin is an excellent wine. Deep in color, with a spicy, black fruit-scented bouquet caressed gently by sweet vanillin oak, this medium-bodied, concentrated, classy wine offers considerable generosity, as well as finesse and length. It should be drunk over the next 8-10 years.

Shows very ripe aromas, almost raisiny, with coffee and tobacco. Almost Port-like. Full-bodied, with big and round tannins and a juicy, rich finish. So powerful and rich. Decadent too. Delicious.—'88/'98 Bordeaux blind retrospective (2008). Drink now. -JS
