There are five different Barolo selections from this house in La Morra, perhaps too many, and it is not clear that the 2000 Barolo, the regular bottling, serves any real purpose. The cherry fruit and floral nose are attractive, but the wine is rather simple and runs out of gas on the finish. There are wines of a lesser category – Langhe Nebbiolo – which match or beat this wine, something the producer might want to think about in future vintages with the difficulties of 2000.
