Revello’s 2005 Barolo (aged 20% in new oak) is a fresh, floral offering that captures the best qualities of this vintage. Everything comes together nicely in this well-defined Barolo. In 2005 Revello opted to bottle smaller amounts of their single-vineyard wines and use some of the juice from their choicest parcels to strengthen this entry-level offering, a consumer-friendly choice that has clearly paid off based on what is in the bottle. The 2005 Barolo is an outstanding effort at this level. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2015.
This is another outstanding set of wines from brothers Enzo and Carlo Revello, two young, passionate growers in La Morra who embody the artisan spirit that is so alive in these hills. The winery itself is located in the Annunziata part of La Morra and offers beautiful views of the surrounding vineyards. The 2005 Barolos clearly show the importance of vineyard exposure and microclimate in this vintage. Most of the single-vineyard wines see 50% new oak with the exception of the Gattera, which is aged in a medium-sized cask.
