The 2007 Barolo is a very pretty wine at this level. Fresh, perfumed aromatics meld into dark red fruit, licorice, mint and spices. This mid-weight Barolo shows lovely depth and fine overall balance. Floral notes reappear on the finish, adding lift and freshness. The estate's Barolo is made from the lower portions of the family's holdings in Conca and Gattera. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2022.
This is another strong set of new releases from the Revello brothers. The 2007s saw 4-5 days of maceration and fermentation and were aged in French oak, approximately 40-50% new for the single-vineyard wines and 15-20% for the straight Barolo. The Gattera was aged in a 15 hectoliter cask.
