La Solitude's 1990 signals a partial return of this famous domaine to the forefront of Chateauneuf du Pape's finest producers. Displaying an opaque black/ruby/purple color, an impressive vanillin, black-cherry, and cassis-scented nose, and rich, robust, herblike flavors, this big, untraditional style of wine was aged in small oak casks. It should drink well for 10-15 years. This is the finest La Solitude since the fabulous 1964 and 1967. Last tasted 5/94.
