The 2003 Chateauneuf du Pape reveals the vintage’s exotic character with hints of litchis and apricots intermixed with black cherry jam. The wine has less color than the 2004, medium to full body, loads of glycerin, and a soft, heady mouthfeel and finish. It should drink well for 7 or so years. A rather leathery, lean character, with heavy tannins indicate this is a wine made in the old style. For those who like this style, however, this is a fine example, packed with dense dryness and austere fruit. It is likely to age well, over 10 years.
