The 1964 is a lovely wine that is round, generous, velvety, and deeply fruity. It has a very sweet, ripe bouquet of fruit, oak, and truffles, soft, amply endowed flavors, medium to full body, and a long, silky finish. It remains a sumptuously rich, intensely flavored wine (from a magnum). Anticipated maturity: Now. Last tasted, 3/91.

(Magnum)A singed, smoky, nearly vegetal and menthol-like nose was followed by an austere, lean, tannic, disjointed wine with some ripeness, body, and richness. While there is plenty of attractive fruit, the wine has shown better (and worse) in other tastings.
